The ph test measures the acidity of the water. 7.0 is neutral on the scale. If it starts going down that means it is acidic. But if it goes up it is alkaline not acidic. Trout can handle big ranges from a ph scale of 3.5-9.8. Trout like to be in the 6.5-8.0 region.
